Hi, I am LA Edwards and welcome to my website. I am a retired environmental scientist and consultant. I left the fast-paced world of corporate America to live in Fantasyland, where I could make things up and write about. While working, I wrote part-time, during the middle of the night, this was the time when I found solace with an occasional ghost and dragon to keep me company. After months of research, I created a supernatural fantasy thriller, “The House of Thoth.” When I completed the manuscript for this series. I began the exhausted process of research and writing ideas to entwine characters from Thoth into its sequel “Benandanti: Rise to Power,” a work in process.
I pushed Benandanti aside to began to pieces together my notes about my long-term battle with late-stage neuroborreliosis, otherwise known as chronic Lyme disease for a book called,”My Life With Lyme.” The book is a frank account of what life has been for me over the course of the past 16 years; also included are stories from others who battle this insidious disease. I also address the controversial issues about the chronic form of this disease, which the Center for Disease Control recently re-named Post-Treatment Lyme Disease (PTLD).

Before being diagnosed Lyme disease, I shared a love of food and wine, photography, travel, music, and endurance sports – mountain bike racing, road cycling, snow skiing, weight training, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle with my husband. I look forward to the day when I can ride my bike again. It was one thing that brought peace to my life and relieved stress. I felt one with nature. I have always felt things in life happen for a reason, a lesson perhaps, and while we may not understand why at the time especially when horrible things happen we eventually find our new path. I have been to hell and back living with such a painful and horrid disease. I continue to remain a positive influence for others who are battling Lyme disease and a strong advocate for a cure, changes in health care, and the way Lyme patients are treated.
When not writing hanging out in Fantasyland, I am a science certified geek with a book in hand or on my Kindle. I love to read and began to read at a very young age. Books especially mysteries have always fascinated me. I will read most anything about science, but also fantasy fiction wherein faeries, dragons, and other mythical creatures reign. More recently, I have become fascinated by historical novels about my Viking and Celtic ancestry. and their ties to the Old Religion, Pagans, Druids, and all things mystical and mysterious. Dark fiction, sci-fi/fantasy, thrillers/action adventures, and murder mysteries with a bit of humor are also fun.
I currently live in Portland, Oregon with my husband and two our furry felines: my little black dragon Lady Morgana, and her metrosexual brother Mr. Perkins, a black tux with a serious attitude and panache for pink.
I hold a Ph.D. in Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences from Washington State University, Pullman, WA, I was a McNair Scholar and graduated Summa cum laude with an M.Sc. degree in Aquatic Ecology/Biology from Eastern Washington University, Cheney, WA. As a Mc Nair Scholar I graduated Magna cum laude with a BS in Biology/Environmental Biology from Eastern Washington University. I was the first McNair Scholar from McNair Scholar Program at Eastern Washington University to earn a Ph.D.
